BACUP HAS ITS VERY OWN SPIRITUALIST CHURCH; HELPING PEOPLE CONNECT TO LOVED ONES ON THE OTHER SIDE.

Tucked away in a little corner on Pickup Street is a beautiful little Church that has a lot of charm. Many people may be surprised to hear that Bacup has its very own Spiritualist Church and due to its small size and its location, it’s no wonder that the congregation is a rather modest size.

While it may be a small church it has a lot of charisma. Believe it or not, the Church has actually been serving the community of Bacup since 1885.

Spiritualist Churches are open to everybody from all walks of life. They practice love and acceptance for all and have no strict doctrine but rather 7 principles of faith that practitioners adhere to.

Spiritualist Churches are well known for playing host to mediums, each week people can come and join the congregation while a medium gives readings providing messages from loved ones that have passed away and are in the spirit world.

Bacup Spiritualist church have these open sessions of mediumship on Sunday afternoons at 14:45 PM, services usually last for around one hour, followed by tea, coffee and cake afterwards.

The services are free for all to attend, though a collection is normally taken during the service where people can give a donation if they so wish.

Bacup Spiritualist church also has an awareness circle every Wednesday where people can be taught about spiritual healing and how to develop psychic abilities, this circle is open to anyone and takes place at 7:30pm and costs just £2 per session.

While the church may not be for everyone it is certainly a hidden gem that often goes un-noticed within the wider community. For anybody that has any interests in the new age or has an interest in the spirit world and angels, the church is certainly worth visiting.

Before writing this article, I thought it was only fair I visited and tried out the Spiritualist Church myself, that way I could give it a fair representation.

I was given a nice warm welcome, there was lots of laughter and I was made to feel welcome and at home. During the service, on each time I attended, I was given a reading from the mediums. The readings were surprisingly accurate, while sceptics may say this was nothing more than cold reading, I felt that my readings hit home on some very personal points.

While I may be undecided and sitting on the fence as whether or not there was any legitimacy to the whole thing, I do feel that it left me with a sense of warmth and comfort.

So, if you’re ever left wondering what to do on a lonely Sunday afternoon this Summer, why not pop down to the local Spiritualist Church and give it a try, you might just be surprised!
