NEW PLANS COULD SEE A NEW PETROL 24 HOUR PETROL STATION & SPAR STORE, UNDER NEW PLANS SUBMITTED TO ROSSENDALE COUNCIL
Plans to bring a new 24-hour petrol station, with a shop and around 30 new jobs for local people, could go ahead after plans were recently submitted to Rossendale Borough Council.
The plans would see the former Bacup Hub, located on Burnley Road in Bacup, be demolished to make room for a brand-new petrol station and Spar shop. Those in support of the new development, have claimed that the new service would provide 15 full time and 15-part time jobs for local people; give an economic boost to the local area.
The plans currently make way for; the petrol station, underground tanks, a convenience store as well as; 10 car parking spaces, two of those being accessible spaces and two cycle stands.
While developers are optimistic their plans will be approved, Lancashire County Council have released a statement saying: “there are a number of issues (with these plans) that would need further input”.
One of the key and main issues brought up by officials was the safe access to the service for pedestrians.
The application has been submitted by James Hall and Company, with the agent being Preston-based Smith and Love Planning Consultants.
The application is set to be decided later in the year.
