CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM LEAVING HOME UNLESS NECESSARY

Residents of the Bacup and Rossendale area have been asked to remain home and stay inside, unless leaving the house for essentials. This comes after the Prime Minister put the UK on enforced lock down.

Whitworth’s 2017 Scarecrow Festival Has Been Cancelled

Earlier this month we made a post about the 2017 Whitworth Scarecrow Festival.

The Scarecrow Festival has been a long running even in Whitworth, it’s an event that has been enjoyed by the community for the past few years and has seen a number of people enter and participate. The even which was due to take place between 1st – 9th July this year, has now been cancelled due to lack of entries and participants.

Whitworth Town Council made this announcement on their FaceBook Page today:

The Whitworth Online team was really disappointed to hear that the event had been cancelled and we’re urging anyone who’s as upset about this as we are, to get in touch with the Town Council via phone 01706 852 018 or via email [email protected] and put your views across; on why the event should be reinstated next year.

Whitworth has long been a town where the community pulls together and shows huge spirit, events like the Scarecrow Festival are for the benefit of the community and are there to for the enjoyment of all age groups. It would be a huge shame to see the Scarecrow Festival disappear and not return in the future, it is only by community spirit, passion and drive that we can guarantee the Scarecrow Festival returns, so please consider contacting the Town Council and expressing your interest in the Scarecrow Festival returning next year.
